Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare today launched the Solomon Islands National Sustainable Development Board (NSDB) of the Pacific Islands Development Forum. The National Development Committee of the PIDF in Solomon Islands will perform the role of NSDB and its membership includes representatives of the Government, Private Sector and Civil Society. Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare yesterday declared illiteracy as an enemy of development and assured READ SI ( Resources for Education to Advance Development in Solomon Islands) of Government support to address illiteracy. The Prime Minister was speaking at the launch of a National Campaign Against Illiteracy organised and funded by READ SI in Honiara yesterday. The initial campaign involves the deployment of literacy teachers to 10 villages across the country to teach adults and children to read for a period of six weeks. Solomon Islands Mission to UK Begins Service

The London-based Solomon Islands Mission to the United Kingdom opened its doors for diplomatic and consular services as of yesterday (Monday 3rd April 2017). The Solomon Islands High Commission in London marks a new chapter in the historical relationship between Solomon Islands and the United Kingdom. PM Looks Forward To Host 5th PIDF Summit In August

As the current Chair of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF), Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare says Solomon Islands is looking forward to hosting the 5th Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) Summit in August this year. Hon Sogavare met a visiting team from the Suva-based PIDF Secretariat led by the Deputy Director General, Peni Lomaloma in Honiara today. PIDF National Consultation Workshop Underway In Honiara

A two days National Consultation Workshop on the establishment of the Solomon Islands National Sustainable Development Board (NSDB) of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) began in Honiara today. The workshop which is being facilitated by a visiting team from the Suva-based PIDF Secretariat has gathered together representatives from Government line Ministries, Civil Society Organisations and the Private Sector.
